Staging Spaces: How Christa Keil Brought a Blank Canvas To Life

In the world of luxury real estate, first impressions are everything. When Arco Build + Design set out to craft the elevated yet inviting atmosphere of 9 Bellevue, they knew that thoughtful staging would be the key to bringing their architectural vision to life. Bringing her signature touch, Christa Keil of Staging Spaces turned 9 Bellevue from a newly built house into a home that captures buyers’ imaginations.

From Designer Roots to Staging Visionary

Christa’s journey began in interior design, training in Florida and working on model homes long before home staging became a household term. Nearly two decades ago, she staged her first property for a struggling realtor, and it sold in just two months after sitting stagnant on the market for over a year.

She recalls her lightbulb moment, “With staging, I could plan, purchase furniture, and do the legwork without having to be there 24/7. It allowed me to scale and be creative in new ways.”

Her interior design background gave her a unique edge. “Anybody doing staging needs either training or a very good flair for what a house should look like,” she explains. It's a little different between interior design and photographs for real estate.

Designing a Standout Story at 9 Bellevue

For 9 Bellevue, Christa approached the project like an artist, balancing her creative instincts with the buyer’s imagination. Arco provided floor plans and a detailed lookbook, which allowed her to craft a cohesive visual story that aligned with the home’s modern architecture and refined finishes.

That one has a really cool kitchenshe says, referring to 9 Bellevue.I actually ordered some special pieces for that space, including the counter stools. So I wanted to make sure that I focused on really showcasing the kitchen and making it look different than any of the other projects I've done for Arco, or any of the other projects that I have in Newton or around town.

She also paid special attention to the home office, framing its sweeping views with inviting furnishings that made it easy for buyers to picture themselves working there. “We definitely wanted to make it feel like a room that somebody wanted to go and work in

Staging With Strategy and Soul

Christa’s process is rooted in psychology as much as aesthetics. She thinks carefully about the neighborhood and target buyer, often consulting with realtors. In Newton, for instance, she leans a bit avant-garde, while Wellesley calls for a more traditional approach.

She also knows how critical it is to make a home memorable. I hope that when people walk out of the houses we stage, there is something in the house that is memorable. Even if it's disruptive, different, or strange, they'll remember it."

Collaboration at the Core

For Christa, staging is never a solo act. She credits strong relationships with realtors, builders, and developers as the foundation of her success.

“You have spent a year or more putting this project together,” she says of Arco. “You have thought of every part of it up until the point that you hand it over to me to work my magic. It is extraordinarily important for me to represent you in a manner that is pleasing to all of us.”

Elevating Homes and Expectations

Above all, Christa wants clients to remember how Staging Spaces made them feel. “Moving is one of the most stressful things people go through,” she says. “We hope we can make it easy and help them get the biggest return on their biggest investment.”

That human-centered mindset is what sets her work apart. She does not just arrange furniture, she tells a story. At 9 Bellevue, that story is one of collaboration, creativity, and comfort, which perfectly reflects Arco’s vision of creating not just houses, but homes.
